October 21, 2006. I'll be out. Will you?

Interestingly enough, I'm going to put slide film in the camera this time. I've never used the Lex35 with slide film before. Cross processing it as well most likely. I'm also going to designate this month "Toy Camera Buying Month" and pick myself up a couple more crappy cameras.

Does a Lomo LC-A count? I don't consider it to be a toy camera but it often seems to get mentioned in the same breath as toy cameras.

If it does count then I use my new (to me) LC-A on the 21st.

Well I declare October 21 to be Andrew Uses His LC-A Day.

I have an Actionsampler around somewhere . . . perhaps I could dig it out and observe both holidays.

me and my lubitel will be out celebrating my birthday with a few rolls of astia

I may have to dust off the Holga for this one. Here is a fun link to the "Leica-H" camera.

http://www.asc.upenn.edu/usr/cassidy/leica-h/

Funny, it didn't cause as much hype as the M8... (The "H" likely refers to Holga but could just as easily mean Hype.) At the bottom of the page the author has posted a "Put Your Money Where Your Leica Was" link to his picture-a-week project. Admirable! Several of the pictures were taken with an M6/Jupiter-12 combo.

OH BOY!!! 21st is the BBQ festival. Lets see??? Should I be Winnogrand, mabe HCB, Oh I know! I can be Freidlander and be lazy and sit in my old ford truck and take my photos. :D

stephanie, i can recommend a diana f. keep your eye out for one. i like it more than my holga.

will you be posting results?

and oh, the leica-h link is hilarious. the sad thing is that if it were true, people with too much money would actually buy one.

Well, if you don't consider it a toy...maybe not. But one person's toys are another person's tools:rolleyes:
Go for it!

I like shooting 35mm film in my Holga 120, you get the exposed sprocket holes then, kinda cool.

Cheers,

do you still get the vignetting and chromatic aberration? those are two qualities i love from these cameras.

I don't think you get as much vignetting, but I could be wrong. I'm doing a test roll to see if my toy camera is crappy enough to really qualify. I'm sure it is. ;)

Hi Chris,

No, unfortuneatly not, maybe a bit of distortion towards the outer edges of the frame, but that's it. I modified my 6X6 mask which really improved the vignetting effect.

Cheers,
kf

If all goes well I'll be in New Mexico chasing trains on the 21st. That would mean I'll be using the SLR and slide film, with digital as the backup. Moving objects tend not to be the best subject for rangefinders, as it's easier to use the zoom on the SLR than change RF lenses.

Last time I was there, I had the CL and used it to take pictures of the stuff in the yard. This time I'm thinking medium format for the stationary stuff... (Yashicamat 124G, not an MF rangefinder as of yet.)
