So i woke up this morning and i went straight to my desk where i have my camera just to make sure i didn't trade it for an M9 and that it was just a dream (or a nightmare?).
Would you trade your Leica for a M8 or M8.2 or even M9? Why?

I have both Film and Digital and my answer is sure....and no...depending on what my needs are. Probably the same for most people, it depends on their style and requirements.

Should be interesting to see the responses.

I also shoot film and digital. I only have one Leica, a M3, and no I would not trade it for a digital M. :)

Boy, talk about bait and switch.

You get my attention with the title, “Would you trade your film camera with a digital one?”

Then the poll question changes things to, “Would you trade your Film leica for a Digital Leica?”

Unfair! :bang:

No (film camera) and No (Leica film camera).

(Actually, I would trade my Leica CL for an M9 since I rarely use the CL. :D)

Yes, I would. Cuz I know digital processing better than darkroom (none actually). But later on I might pick up a film M to shoot all the Tri-X that I have gathered. :D

Who is offering? ;)

Dan.

No.

It depends.

I shoot with both and prefer it stays that way. Using M-Mount lenses on both film and digital bodies is a real treat. Viva la difference!

No way! I went the other way, too.
Sold my EOS 5D and most of its lenses to afford my Zeiss Ikon.

No Leica involved on either side of the equation, though. :D

I just did: sold my Hasselblad 500 C/M kit, a Nikon F2A and a couple of old beat up OM-1s to finance a D700 and 70-200/2.8 VRII.

Now that my digital lust has been covered it's back to lusting after film again...

Like some others here I traded my digital cameras to shoot film cameras.

I might one day consider another digital camera but at the moment there is nothing on the market that interests me (that’s affordable) but I’d keep my film cameras.

No, I could sell my film gear and buy an M8 with the money, but I simply don't want to. The M9 does not really have any more appeal for me.

Perhaps a more telling variation: "If allowed only one camera for use and not sale, M9 or a film M of your choosing?"

Well, today I repaired my M3 shutter DIY style and I doubt I could do that with a digital M. So, I know where my vote goes.

Honestly, yes, I want to trade for a M8 or M9 just to try out digital RF and satisfy my digital RF lust. But I am sure I will trade the M8 or M9 for film RF cameras back after a while.
