I use Nikon and mamiya gear in my professional life. And a few weeks ago when I got my r2a with the 35mm 1.7 I wasn't sure if it would ever become more than a weekend distraction. I must say, after using it both for pleasure and professionally, it has found a rightful permanent place in my travelling gear bag. That lens is beautiful, and what a joy to finally get back to a rangefinder after all that time in the dark tunnel of an slr.

Some recent pics...shot on 3200 TMAX.

I can't speak to the R2A, but wholeheartedly agree that the 35/1.7 is a very nice lens. Nice looking images, and a nice looking model. 🙂

That 35 Ultron gets my attention every time I look at an image taken with it. IMHO it's not that far behind the 35 Cron ASPH considering the price difference. The Ultron is the main lens on my Bessa R. The 35 Cron tends to be resident on the M. The quality, sharpness and pictorial ability of this lens is outstanding and is well made as well.

<edit> The R2A is a possible purchase, only competition is the R2M. The AE is very useful though. Wonderful example shots, nice one!

Nice shots! I'd love to see some shots taken in colour with that combination.

I am planning on getting that exact same combination myself; but while I've come across plenty of B&W pics taken with the 35/1.7 Ultron I've seen very few colour shots taken with it.

Also, how effective do you find the supplied hood is at reducing glare?

Cheers,

I'm glad you guys can make that lens work. I never could get comfortable with the tapered shape of the lens. I always found myself hunting for F stops.

Great shots

I have that problem with the 40 Rokkor and those two f-stop flanges that are so hard to get at when a hood is attached to it. Great lens, though.
