Wrong filter size for CV 28 3.5?

Thanks to friendly RFF member Tmas who sent it from Germany, today I received, at last -after looking for it for a year around the world- the small black CV 28 3.5, and I feel so very happy... Thanks a lot to all RFF members who helped me seeking the lens for the last months... Wow, this is tiny! My camera body is thicker! Now I can have my camera with me, with a great wide angle lens mounted, inside my pants pocket!


I got it with the LTM to M mount adapter, its small hood, and the optional square hood too... And a moment ago I received the yellow and warming filters I ordered (39mm, Nikon), and here's my question:


¿What can I do to make the filters fit? I thought I had ordered the right ones... After removing the small hood, I tried to place them, and they're almost perfect but a bit loose: they come out easily and fall down... ¿Are they the wrong size or thread? I tried to put some electrical black tape over the filters' thread, but it was no good, because they can't even get threaded... Any idea?

Don't know, but they might work with Summicron-C 40 and Elmar-C 90 which have non-Leica-standard thread pitch (0.75mm).

Well, I need a solution: I paid international shipping from two different USA sellers, one for each filter... There must be a way...

I think the pitch is different on the Nikon filters from the "standard" 39mm filters (ie Leica filters). I use the Leica 39 with no problem on my 28f3.5'.
You will enjoy the 28f3.5 - at the moment I have three cameras with that lens on it. An old Canon L1 with a chrome one, a black M2 with the black one and one of my Nikon S2's has the S-mount version on it!!!!!!
 
I think, if I remember correctly (I no longer have the lens), that the filters are held in place by the hood. The filters do not screw into the lens, they simply sit in the recess. The hood then holds them tightly in place.
 
Mine takes the regular 39mm filter. It has a Hoya 39mm on it right now. Also takes the Leica 39mm. You must have ordered one fancier than necessary!

Edit/added: My B+W 39mm F-Pro MRC also fits right on.

Just checked it out. The LTM version takes standard 39mm filters and you can still attach the hood to it. I rarely use filters so I had to scrounge up some to check with.
 
I agree with all posts and want to add: I have B+W filters from Schneider Kreuznach, and they fit my 28/3.5 perfectly.

I never new there was any other thread than M39x0.5 for 39 mm-filters...

Enjoy your 28, though, it's a great little lens. I am upgrading to a ZI and bought two ZM lenses with it, guess which is one of my CV lenses that gets to stay? Yes, that's right, the little 28/3.5 held it's own against the mighty Summarit 35, which in turn totally trashed my Ultron 35... :eek:
 
Same as Rob-F. Mine with a B+W F or Hoya 39mm fits with the hood.

I have another 39mm filter that screws in, but too thick to fit the hood over it. You should be mindful of that, too!

I am almost positive that those Nikon flilters you purchased are for the rear of some NIkon telephoto lenses. YOu should be able to sell them in Europe - just need to know for which lenses.

BTW, I keep a skylight B&W MRC coated filter on my lens at all times except when it is changed out for yellow.
 
Yep, the 28/3.5 LTM uses the standard Leica 39mm filter. Here's mine with the filter and hood installed:



(and no, it's not for sale ;) LUF joke.)
 
Guess what... I called a friend who uses Nikon teles and he has the 300 f4, and a while ago he bought the 2 filters!

That was a fast solution! :)

I think you have something there. Nikon Reflex Lenses take 39mm screw in filters at the back and need one in place all the time. When sold new they came with a number of these filters one of which was a yellow one. I remember thinking bonus, I can use these on my other lenses, and finding out not so.

I think the Summarit being referred to is in M-Bayonet mount. I believe it is among the new series of f/2.5 Summarits, is it not? I think the series includes 35, 50, 75, and perhaps 90 (not sure about the 90).

Edit: Obviously something went very wrong with the quoting process. My comment is in reply to the question about using the Summarit 35mm on an LTM camera.
