If I was bad I'd say you need a S3 and a 1.8...
I must not tease Joe x100 times

P.S. I never look at classifieds or e-bay, I know better

i agree but my budget does not...

Joe,

You don't need an S2. Mind you, what has that ever had to do with anything. Recovering from a cold, freezing temperatures etc can do strange things to one's mind. Someone recently suggested that you take some of those $$$ that are burning a hole in your pocket and spend it on a trip (to somewhere warm). That was the best idea I've heard in a long while.

Wearing my goodie two shoe hat, there is the cv or j12 option. I have several j12 that are pretty good.

have i ever mentioned my flying phobia?

I'm not too fond of it either. Vince's idea is cool. More photo opportunities and most importantly gets you away from where you are right now.

I have been considering getting a J12 as an inexpensive 35 option, haven't (yet) checked the prices of the Nikkor 35/2.5.

I can help you out w/a good user S2 body (still have to finish a roll of Panatomic-X, though) & a 5cm/1.4 Nikkor-S, but not a 3.5cm/2.5 w-Nikkor. Email if interested.

a question...

i can't seem to find it now but i think it was tom a who stated that the whole finder of the s2 could be used for a 35mm lens.
is this accurate or am i remembering incorrectly?

I've got an S2 + 50 1.4 + 35 2.5. I've never done a good comparison (don't use the 35 a lot), but the 50's brightline in the 1:1 S2 finder is almost as wide as the finder is. I can't imagine the 35 would be fully covered.

The S2 is a very nice camera, you will love it!

I've used my S2 with the J-12.

If you do not wear glasses, the full finder of the S2 is pretty close to the 35mm finder in my SP. I just compared the two side-by-side. With glasses, the 50 lines are close to the edge for me. For critical framing, you will need an external finder.

Don't have a spare 3.5cm/2.5.

i just wonder about having both contax and nikon with 50's.
i could always get a 35 plus finder later on.

and yes john, i am ALMOST done.
