sorry to post this here, trying to post a WTT in the classifieds was not working for me.

anyhow...this might sound weird, but i have either a noctilux (first version 58mm filter threads) with caps and original hood, or a silver chrome mp (.72 viewfinder) to offer in trade (the other non traded item will be sold). i'm looking for a 35mm summilux asph (preferably chrome). pm or email me if you're interested. i figure if ever there was a place this could go down, it would be RFF 😀

thought i would mention several other items that i might be tempted with. possibly a 35mm summicron asph (chrome), or a pre-asph 50mm summilux. naturally the cost would have to balance out somehow (ie: added cash, multiple items, etc).

i also should add that the items i have for trade are all in extremely nice condition. the MP comes w/ original box and such.

this sounds like an epic trade!!

for any interested, if you have not done business with ryan before you can rest assured that he is one upstanding fellow.
his stuff is as stated and he is an honest and likable guy, good to deal with.

the only confusing part is why he wants to trade away an mp?!

heheh...thanks joe. it's a quite practical matter. the mp is without a doubt the finest mechanical camera made. i LOVE using it. but in all reality, it comes out of the bag fewer times than the cl. i just take more photos w/ the cl, and never hesitate to bust it out anywhere. the mp...not as much. if i was independently wealthy, i would keep the mp just because it's incredible. as it stands, i am not and i have to pick my toys wisely ;-)

sorry for mixing in though i can not offer either of your searched for items, but - doesn't the noctilux use an E60 filter thread?
or do you refer to the aspherical noctilux f/1.2?

cheers,
sebastian

hey keith. not sure if you are joking with me or not 🙂 i would actually love to be able to use the noctilux on the cl, but it completely blocks the rangefinder window (so it's not even a matter of it not being accurate enough to focus). it is a nice little combo mounted on there. hehehe.

but actually i am getting rid of both the noctilux and the MP. in addition to using the CL more (because of its size), i also find that i have shifted to seeing things in a 35mm perspective, so whatever 50mm i end up with will not see as much use as the 35.

Would not "natural philosopher" be more appropriate?

ok...if no one has a chrome summilux, i'll probably just list the noctilux on ebay tomorrow sometime. i might be swayed by a chrome 35 'cron asph plus cash as well. the must have part is "chrome" though. i love the brass lenses.

hehehe. as much as i love reading about them, i think living next to them might be a bit much 😉

unless you mean amy shaftoe (or have you not read cryptonomicon yet?)

Jack and Eliza are well, and I think his son's decendents may be my neighbors.

My brother is getting a copy of Cryptonomicon for Christmas. Once he finishes that, he only has a few more thousand pages to go.

Take care, and good luck selling your lens.
Michael

you should have him read the baroque cycle first, and cryptonomicon last so that they are in chronological order. that's what i had my wife do. she's just started cryptonomicon now. of course, it's been so long since i've read it that i can't even talk to her about it (since the details are fuzzy)

and thanks! 🙂
