I've noticed what I think are static flashes when tearing the film off factory loaded 35mm cassettes but this is a new one on me.
Cheers

I knew about the static flashes back in the 70's. Glad I don't load my film onto reels in a vacuum chamber!

Ambitious, but rubbish
I don't know if they're related, but the effect of peeling adhesives generating light is called triboluminescence. The very first time I noticed it was when my wife was peeling open a breath-right strip, which is packaged similar to a band-aid. She used to wear them to bed, so the lights happened to be out, and we noticed a glow coming from the package as she peeled it open. I have since noticed it on 120 film while peeling off the backing.
