X100/100s tele-converter

The results look nice! To bad I just sold the X100 and grabbed the Xpro, or Ide be all over this! Hope everyone enjoys a firmware update!

I don't know the corners look fine to me when the lens is stopped down. I don't mind the swirly bokeh, it reminds me of my 50 DR summicron. Some slight softness is not the end of the world to me wide open either.

This looks like a nice way to create a little system.

Hey everyone - I did a quick search of the forums and didn't see any mention of either the WCL of TCL in respect to effective aperture with either conversion.

Would I be correct in assuming that the WCL adds some fraction of a stop in additional gathered light, and that the TCL could reasonably be expected to do the exact opposite? Loving the signature of the TCL and am beginning to wonder if my X100 and both adapters may have a place as my ultimate lightweight travel kit.

I'm pretty certain that both converters keep the original aperture. I thinks that's why the TCL has a large front element. I haven't really followed them too closely though because I don't own an X100, so I may be wrong though.

Here's a comment about the adapter when in use:
'If you select ‘Tele’ in the “Conversion Lens” option, the Fujifilm X100 and X100S cameras automatically apply image processing to shots taken using the TCL-X100, reducing image distortion, ensuring balanced illumination across the frame and reducing chromatic aberration commonly found in tele-conversion lenses.'
My question is this: does this setting work when working with RAW? Or does this only matter when shooting JPG?

Then Fuji converters are front-side converters, so the aperture number remains the same.

Imaging Resources just reviewed the TCL-X100, and, outside of some auto corrected distortion, they said it more or less doesn't hurt image quality.

Macjim, if you're using a raw converter that pics up the tags, like Lightroom, the corrections will be applied in raw.

I'm pretty pumped about this. 50 is my go-to...don't get me wrong - I can work with 35 but this is really going to mean a lot.

I am constantly at how darn good these converters can be when they come from a major manufacturer and are designed specifically for the camera its used on (I think there are some generic ones available on eBay). I have a wide angle one for a Nikon P7000 (which is virtually a clone of Canon's G series of camera). And its surprisingly good except for barrel distortion - which never bothers me as its easily fixed in post in any event. I think if I owned an X100 or x100s I would be very tempted to get the tele one as I tend to prefer longer lenses over shorter ones.

In addition to your point, I am so impressed that I have had multiple firmware updates to my x100 (some significant) and here x years old, I am buying this tele converter, this camera keeps getting better. as my only digital, I am very happy with Fuji's commitment to their products…. I am looking forward to it.

I have decided not to get the 50mm adapter for my x100.
It is way too big (for me).
67mm filter diameter! For me that takes the (perfect) x100 setup from small and discrete to big and klunky. Add a lens hood and jees, that is huge (and blocks the onboard flash so using flash fill is out)!
I actually think I'd buy a companion 50mm version of the X100 before I bought this converter (and also keep my 35mm version).
Different strokes for different folks, I guess.

to your point if i used the flash, which I never use, that would cancel this lens out. ill get everyone some first hand feedback after I use it- for me its getting as much out of the x100 with a second lens FOV option and I am learning to like a 50MM FOV on my M's- i would never get a second whole camera system for a one new lens/for me that defeats my keep it simple camera theory- i use my M6/M5 for B&W majority of the time so this works…… thanx

For me the tcl is tempting since I am more of a 40-50 fov... I tend to crop a decent amount of my shots from the x100 to either the 40 or 50 perspective. I would love to c Fuji make a x150 which would be that 35f2 (50 fov) camera as well..

I should have also noted that I have a DSLR system and more than enough lenses to do "special" things.
The x100 fits my personal photo needs so well, almost anything they do to it I won't like :D. It is always with me.
That sounds fanatical, but it's true.

A 50mm X150 ? I am definitely in, but am also keeping the one I have !
