X100 discontinued?

I hope they include a bottle opener, cork screw, and phillips screwdriver this time around. You know I take the damn thing with me everywhere... it may as cover a few more bases :D

In reality, I think it will be a marginal update with

- aperture blade problem solved
- newer sensor
- some improvements from X-Pro1
- harder to turn dials
- silver/black options with different covering for each color
- same lens, same form factor, same pricing

X200 with:

16MPix APS sensor with improved high ISO performance
1.8/28 lens (= 1.8/42 equiv.)
and faster AF

THAT's it!

Problem with load of used X100's falling victims of upgrade daemon will be buyer's roulette with sticking aperture. Those with repaired aperture (papers included) will go for more than those "used so far without any problems".

X200... a partnership with Leica - to put a 28-to-50mm Summicron on it. With the XP1's sensor. Oh... don't forget the black paint over brass coating atop magnesium. :)

Interesting news. I was planning to purchase an X100 within the latter half of the year -- black version at that. The drop in price is certainly appealing; not sure on what they could improve? Hopefully some optical stabilization, or perhaps a sensor axis stabilizer? This would be of tremendous benefit for video footage and low iso wide open shots..

And I hear Olympus are planning a new OM micro four thirds that will be called the OM-Double D (OM-DD) with slightly larger dimensions.

They felt the need to keep abreast with the competition.

Trying to stifle laughter.

I failed :).

I imagine they'll be using their 16mp X-trans sensor and that they will greatly improve the ergonomics: I have both the X-Pro1 and the X100, and switching between the two really makes me appreciate the great stride Fuji made in that aspect.

Other smaller improvements probably include AF speed and buffer capacity/clearance time. My hope is that they manage to make it thinner: that third dimension is the one that really makes a camera pocketable or not.

I guess they could always remove the LCD. :)

I'm pretty protective of my x100. If they do release an update for it, they better not change the focal length or the size of it. I'll be interested in what they do change, but I'll be scrutinizing it pretty closely before I upgrade myself.

The x100 is like a digital classic.

fill flash on x100 is suprisingly good...

I'll take your word for it. But that built in flash is one of a number of factors that prevented me from buying the camera. I went with NEX. An X200 would be of interest so long as they keep the 35mm focal length, and the EVF was as good or better than the NEX....
