Hey everyone, i need help finding out whats happened to my x100s,
i have had it for 2 months and everything is perfect but yesterday i took photos and some were slightly out of focus, i assumed user error
But today the shutter button started acting really odd, i press it and the camera takes like 5 seconds to realize i pressed button halfway for focus but i remove my finger and the focus is stuck , i try pushing the button again but it just quickly focuses again and gets stuck and sometimes it will unlock but go in a crazy state of randomly focusing on anything rapidly ?
i am really confused why this is happing as i have treated the camera with care and never forced anything on it. thanks for any help with this thanks heaps

If your battery is fully charged then I suggest you reset the camera as described in the Owners' Manual. I alway make some quick photos with my mobile phone of all my menu screens before resetting the camera so it's easy to restore my preferences.
It could be your camera is unintentionally set to C focus mode.
If you have a third-party lens filter adapter or hood installed, it's possible the lens is colliding with those components which can make odd things happen.
It is possible the shutter button or an internal component has failed. This would be rare, but at least the camera is under warranty.

Sounds like it's in continuous AF mode? Moving the camera around at different objects makes it continuously refocus? Set the camera to manual focus mode. Then manually focus on some object. Then test the camera by attempting to take some shots. Then report back here with your results.

ok, I will try that but just letting you know I never set my camera to AF-C its always on AF-S or Manual.
If it was in AF-C mode the focus would be a plus not a square

Correct... so your problem is not AFC mode.
