Anyone else find it a little to easy to trip? Man, that little sucker is easy to set off. It will take some getting used to. I have already wasted a few shots

I find it perfect. I don't really have to push it, thus reducing vibrations - I can rest my finger on it, and all I have to do is flex my finger muscle a bit when I want to take a photo. This implies quite a bit of accidental shutter tripping, but I find I can shoot it and get good results a stop slower compared to other rangefinders where I really have to push the shutter release (Yashica GS, Minolta 7s, etc).
It has to be said that it varies a lot from XA to XA though, age and condition are important factors - when not taken care of, the shutters tend to become irresponsive when old, while a very new one, or self-adjusted one, may be a bit too easy to trip.

Mine is extremely east to trip. I think you could breathe on it and it would go off. I haven't tried my XA2 yet as it needs batteries and light seals.

One of mine is just about perfect (the other I haven't shot yet as it needs a CLA to be operative), but it does take some time to get used to the XA shutter for some. As jvx stated, it varies by sample; if yours hasn't had a CLA in a while, I'd consider it. The camera is worth it.

Thanks, I just got it and an XA2. I am going to Shreveport tomorrow and will drop them off at Dees Photo so Henry can CLA them and put in new seals. He has always done a great job on my Canon FD's and it is reputed he is even better with Oly.Trius said:One of mine is just about perfect (the other I haven't shot yet as it needs a CLA to be operative), but it does take some time to get used to the XA shutter for some. My XA2 has this problem... Quite ennoying on this wonderful camera. I just replaced the light seals and I intend to carry it around a lot, so I really would like to get rid of the irresponsive shutter.
I tried to open the camera, because I guess it's a matter of cleaning the electronic contact of the shutter button, but I got nowhere... removed all the screws from the bottom plate (yeah, also the one beneath the self timer switch), the one screw on the top plate and even the screw which is visible inside next to the film spool.
I'm completely stuck by the sliding cover... I can detach it on the bottom and on the back, but it's still attached at the top front part.
Can someone give me a hint on how to reach the shutter contact?
Thanks!
