I'm looking for a replacement for the lens hood that comes with the XF35 f2 lens. The one in the box is a wee bit small and the official accessory hood is a bit dear so I was wondering what alternatives were out there. Has anyone bought an alternative to the LH-XF35-2?

I use the little screw hood from my Voight 40/1.4 but the supplied lens hood also worked well for me.

The one that comes with the lens is truly a throw-away and I've never said that about any other Fuji product. To me, the LH-XF35-2 was worth it because it utilizes the bayonet mount. Plenty of other screw-in alternatives on ebay and amazon, but they are screw in so they mount into the filter, if you use one.

I chose to go with LH-XF35-2. Ebay screw-in one will add unnecessary length to the lens/camera, and doesn't look nice neither as the lens has very tapering profile IMHO. If you use X-Pro1/2, then being able to align the slit is also a nice to have. I got a like-new one via Amazon used/warehouse deal for about $10 less than MSRP.

ok, sounds like the Fuji one is the one to go for. I did see one on eBay but the review wasn't good. The new optional Fuji hood is the way to go although it is expensive (everything Fuji seems to be these days).

yes, it's a lot of money for a bit of metal. Probably not much more than £3's worth in total. The new optional Fuji hood is the way to go although it is expensive (everything Fuji seems to be these days).
