Hi!
Just got me a Yashica Electro 35 GS a couple of days ago
Camera looks like new but...
The selftimer is stuck halfway, so as a result, the shutter doesn't work.
I checked the online repair manuals so I can take the lens unit apart to get to the selftimer, but the pics look slightly different from what I found inside my lens.
So far I got to this point:
And this is what I've taken out
(plus 2 lenses - not in the picture)
I need to get the black center part out in order to remove the aperture ring before I can get to the selftimer
Any ideas how to get it out? What am I missing / doing wrong?
TIA for all pointers / tips...

Yeah, I still use film...
OK, so what happened was that your front lens group came apart rather than coming out as one complete unit as it is supposed to, leaving the rear part of it in the camera. When that happens, I leave the lenses in place, put a little super glue in several spots around the circumference of the threads of the outer ring (the first one that came off) and screw it back on, making sure to tighten it up completely. After letting the glue dry for an hour or so, the whole group should come out as one piece, exposing the brass ring that holds the rest of the lens together.
Hope this helps...

Russ, thanks for your reply.
Just so I get it right...
The "red" part below should have come out as one piece with the lenses & rings
The outer "blue" part is a separate piece

Yup.
After the lens group comes out in one piece, it looks like this:
When you unscrew the scalloped ring in the middle you can then lift the outer part of the lens barrel off and access the self timer. The self timer is held on by two screws or one screw and a locating pin, depending on the model. Once it's out, if you remove the little notched sliding piece of plastic that the cocking arm went through, you can turn it upside down and reinsert it to seal the hole. When you reassemble the lens barrel, make sure that the arm sticking out of the outer section goes into the fork down the side of the inner section. This is what moves the aperture iris.
