I have spotted a rather nice example on a certain web site and wonder if any owners would care to share their experiences of this camera? This example is not cheap USD $199.00 but it has been serviced so I think it could be great value.
Does it have the Yashica thunk as it's wound on, my GSN did this and I found it less than ideal but put up with it because of the wonderful lens.

If it's working properly, that's a price one can expect to pay. Unless you are lucky to find them for $9.99 at yard sales and camera bins :)
I think CC* doesn't have POD, but I can get corrected.
 
I have a 35 CC, it's a fabulous camera with a very nice lens; and it does 'thunk' when advancing the film.

The only questionable thing about it is the two bladed diaphragm. However, in my experience shooting with it I haven't yet encountered any oddly shaped diaphragm stars in my images.

Frontman in this forum says the CCN is a version with improved electronics (more rugged) of the CC.
 
Brian, have you checked the classifieds here? I've seen a few CC/CCNs for sale in the past few months.

Had a Electro CC myself--loved it, but sold it when I got a Bessa.
 
If that's the one by nobbysparrow, you won't be disappointed. He and Frontman (sangetsu on the large auction site) sell nothing but the best. You can't go wrong buying from either one. I've been thinking about getting a CCN, just because the cost of an LTM 35mm lens is somewhat out of my reach at the moment. And these P&S 35's I've been experimenting with haven't really panned out. I do have an ME and an MC, but would rather have the rangefinder of the CCN.

It's one of Frontman's cameras on Ebay ... I have considered a Lynx 14E but I think it's too big and the lens isn't wide enough, I loved my GSN apart from the clunk and the long shutter button travel, I did tape the top cover to keep the sunlight away from the arrows.
It was a cool camera that I got some great street shots with and now I'm looking for something like it that has had all the possible work done and I don't mind paying for that.
 
The CCN does not have a POD, and does not have the "thunk" the larger Electros have, though there is the slight sound of the shutter button popping up when the shutter is wound. The CC and the CCN are great picture takers, and I have gotten many good pictures with them,
 
I have received multiple terrific cameras from Frontman.

Whether the CCN has a pad and whether this is a "Pad of Death," I would trust a camera coming from Frontman.

No relationship. Just a satisfied customer.

Then definitely get it. Jeff looks for the best ones to sell, and is great after the sale, too. I got my GX from him, and was very happy with the way he resolved an issue with the sale (there wasn't a problem with the camera I bought).

My CC really "Thunks" while my GSN only makes a light "knock". Both space just fine on the film. Do either sounds indicate a looming problem?
 
I always understood that a noise was good an no noise meant trouble ... my GSN was silent and ate batteries like M&Ms.

Exposures are what count. Sounds are sounds, but proper test is to load film and run through to see under various light levels. Sometimes thermometer reads 36.6C but patient is anything but healthy. Do your cameras expose properly? Fine. Have you replaced POD in them yourself or have proff it has been done in not too long past? No? Just open them and check yourself. Much more reliable diagnostics than listening to sounds.

Appreciate the feedback, the cameras do expose properly. Opening the cameras up is what gives me reluctance, as I understand it requires peeling off the leatherette to get at the interior. Seems like a lot to do on a camera that still works. But I suppose all things work until they don't.

I haven't opened CC-series but on G...GSN it's enough to remove top cover to inspect (and replace) POD. No massive teardown required, just like popping up the hood...well, almost as easy.

Leatherette on this cams isn't stiff and brittle, so if you would ever need it's easy to do also this step.

But if you buy one for $200 then it just has to work. If you buy CC for $2...20 then it's another story.
 
Pad and POD is two different things. CC has a dampening pad, just like those G, GT, GSN, that can suffer from POD. POD is pad of death. I have disassembled CC's in molucules and it can not suffer from POD. GL and GX likewise.
 
Funnily enough, picked up a fairly nice CC today, got it for £10.00.
Bargain!
Rangefinder patch very good, glass looks ok.
Will try a battery later, if its a goer will do the light seals & put it on the EvilB.
Prefer the GX. but the CC has its followers.
