I have an Electro 35 GX that needs a CLA. Anyone know a good tech? Mark Hama is the obvious, but he's a bit dodgy from what I can tell. He's seems like the real deal, but I don't know if I want to hound him to do it.

It seems it's easier to find options for the bigger Electro's (GSN and ilk) but the small ones not so much.

I've got a Mat-124G and an Electro 35 I want to have worked on as well. I cannot get Mr Hama to reply to my emails to verify he is even in existence at this point. He came very highly recommended at one point but now I don't know if I would trust him with my cameras. Especially knowing that he doesn't seem to care to communicate with me and the fact that folks here and elsewhere have said he had their cameras for months and months.

If there's someone else who can do this work and is recommended I'd certainly like to know.

I have had my GX cleaned, lubricated and adjusted with Mr. Hama and I can say he is the man! However, he is currently in Japan and will be back stateside on the 25th. By the way, the lens on that GX is superb! And once the viewfinder is cleaned and you look through it, the world seems a better place!

I sent a broken meter Canonet to Mark Hama because I figured it'd be nice to just spend to the money to have a near perfect working one than to gamble on ebay purchases. He gave me a two week turnaround.. turned out to be maybe 3-4 months rarely replying to emails. I guess that's not "that" big a deal, but after waiting all that time, the flash hotshoe didn't work anymore.. I decided just to never use my canolite flash with that camera instead of waiting again.. *sigh

Maybe he's different with the Yashicas since that seems to be his specialty.

I have had good luck with Steve from steve's camera, but it was my Leica he fixed.. http://www.stevecamera.com

There is no 100% accuracy in life, perhaps the QL17 is more complex, the meter is, than the Yashicas. However, you could take your QL17 to the Leica expert, he might be able to connect the hotshoe again!

During the past three years, Mark Hama has been very responsive and has done excellent work for me on several Yashicas. There was an earlier period in which he was ill and not responding.
