I finally secured for myself one of these fine little rangefinder cameras. Sporting a 35mm 1:1.8 Color-Yashinon DX lens in a compact body with a Copal electronically controlled shutter, it’s just a little smaller than the Electro-35 GX, and a little bigger than my Nikon P7700. Aperture priority always, with Over and Under warning lights in the viewfinder. Due to its size, they are not duplicated on the top like with the larger models.
I shot a roll of Kodak Gold 200 that was just slightly out of date. Exposures were good, with just minor adjustments for highlights, and sky detail. The camera functions fine, and its only fault is someone almost wrecked the battery cover, but it still works.
Evening light photos to bring out the contrast.

I think that the battery cover from a TL Electro X might fit the CC, if you have one laying around. Nice results, Phil.

CC is a milestone for every Yashica lover. Have eyed them several times but haven't jumped on and left it as undiscovered territory for me. Now when I've stopped buying up cameras it has some symbolic meaning to me.

The first picture is really wide!
I tried my CC with the "half-plugging PC socket to trick for full speed flash-sync" hack and it did work.
How to know if it's not fully-plugged? With PC socket fully plugged, the under exposure yellow light is always off (since the camera assumes you're using a flash). So as long as the yellow light still lights up when pointing at dark objects, you haven't pushed it too far, and can enjoy full speed sync flash.
This trick doesn't work with the Electro35 FC.

the snow must go on
Remove the top cover, pull the small pin out of the pc socket and reinstall top cover. Sync problem solved.

As I rarely use a flash, it might not be a problem leaving the camera as-is. Thanks guys for the info.

You might check the Yashica-Guy web site for a battery cover. All things Yashica Electro... much information. I think it's still up. Spent a lot of time there when I was in my "Electro Period"!!!

I just got a great little CCN off eBay. Really compact, and it has an excellent rangefinder patch (which was always my trouble spot with Russian rangefinders.)
Question: I have yet to develop my first roll from it, but from time to time, the shutter release button would seem to stick, as if it were reluctant to fire (exposure was fine, as confirmed by a handheld Sekonic.)
Does this indicate a problem? Something a CLA can fix?

One thing that many people don't know is that the CC and CCN cameras use thorium glass in the rear elements. This gives the glass a slightly gold colour, and makes images a bit warmer, or more contrasty if you are using black and white film.

There is a light spring which fits under the shutter button. This spring is easily lost if the camera is being cleaned or repaired, and if the camera is reassembled without the spring, it might feel like the shutter button is sticking, and you have to push the shutter button rather far for the shutter to actuate. Otherwise, it might just be sticky from not being used very often.
