I have 2 Yashica Electros (mentioned in another thread, re: other problems) with strangely behaving shutters.

#1 (Yashica Electro Professional): The shutter opens *during* the wind-on, and opens a bit more when fired. The shutter closes after one or two more wind-fire cycles. Lots of ronsonol seems to temporarily cure this. So question: do I need MORE ronsonol, or does this mean the shutter mechanism needs lube? Russ if you're reading this, you mentioned killing electro shutters after using too much lighter fluid... is it possible to recover? Is this the same problem?

#2 (Yashica Electro GSN): The shutter fires at 1/500th without battery. With battery, it stays fully open until the wind arm is cranked again. The battery test and over/under lights do not respond. **UPDATE**: This was just due to a weak battery. This camera works fine now.

Both of these have had a POD repair by me. Any ideas? Symptoms of the POD? Electronic problems? More ronsonol? Something else? Thanks

Alexander
