I just bought this on craigslist for 75 bucks... my birthday resent from my wife.
The camera is clean and has the cover. The guy bought said it belonged to his father and was finally getting rid of it.
what you all think?

Decent TLR, the cheapest I ever seen these for sale new was 99 Canadian dollars in April 1983.
 
Excellent price, I paid something like $150 for mine, but that was a few years ago. It is a very good camera, once you get used to using it.
 
From the picture it looks like it is in good condition, you got a great deal :)

I absolutely love mine... and you got a great deal on it. One thing I'd mention... make sure you test out the meter against one you know is accurate. Some people swear by the built in meter but the one in mine (and others have said the same) is off by at least 2 stops from all my other meters.
 
Great price, great camera, great wife.

She is a solid camera with a fine lens. If I remember right you could shot 35mm film in it for a panoramic type of shot. I used them in school and it was a wonderfully fun, silent camera.

It looks great. They usually go for twice that amount or more. Put a roll in it and go take some photos ! I really love mine. They are very fine cameras.

i used to have a 635 which had the 35mm adapter for it, but i never knew that there was a way for 124 to do that as well??? was it a special adapter u ordered. the 635 always came with the adapter unless it was lost by previous owner.

beware of flare. use a hood or at least screen the lens with your hand. point it away from bright skies, windows and light sources in general (actually, it handles point sources better that the big glowing ones, like windows or pearly-cloudy skies)

it's a competent little box. you should have no complaints, considering the price

Stock up on 120s already.:) I'm sure the experience and resullts will be beautiful, once you get used to it.:)

Yeah she new i wanted it and she has a thing for the yashica's. If it was up to her i would carry a electro over anything else. and when i showed her this she was pretty ok with me getting it.

it is in good condition just a bit of dust that will come of with some cleaning When i bought it i looked at the les i thought there were some cleaning marks on it but after wiping it down it was super clean not a scratch on the lens.

Its been used but not to much. The guy said it has been sitting for years after his dad passed away. Told him i would take care of it and use it.


side note a 35mm adapter can be used with it?

Really wouldn't recommend that: an unnecessary expense. It will have sprocket holes and the whole focusing and composition will be off, IMO. I would've just brought an RF for my 35mms for less bulk and faster composition and shooting, especially for street photography. :)

I was just interested is all. Yeah i was thinking about buying a cheap lens hood though. other than that i just want to use it.
 
Common advice is to avoid using the self-timer, and if you have to, only when the shutter is set to x-synch.
 
That's a nice looking 124g...once you get used to how it works you'll love it...the 6x6 negs are great to look at and even nicer to print...

That's a great camera!

I own the 124 (without the G). Soon found out that it really needs the hood and it also needed a CLA, despite looking fantastic.

But this little box and its little 4 element lens will amaze you. It certainly amazed me. I owned many cameras and lenses, and only two lenses ever shocked me how good they were, the Leitz Summicron DR and the Yashinon in the 124. Of course 120 is a significant step up in quality from 35mm, but the first post CLA color roll was simply breathtaking.

I also own a Hassy 500 kit now, but the simplicity and quietness of the 124 will assure it remains in my collection for a long time.

$75 is a great price.

Mine came to me free by way of a friend of my brother's. Never thought I'd want a TLR, but it has proven to be a very competent camera that's a joy to shoot.
