I finally got it! The lens I was lusting after. I collected my 75 Summilux yesterday, mint and virtually unused for a reasonable price  I will try to find some time to scan some of the first results the coming weeks. GAS is in remission until this autumn.😉 The only drawback: It makes my beloved 50 mm 'Lux redundant. 🙁 So there it is in the Classifieds section. Does anybody have a good home for it?

Jaap - do you really want/need to sell that lens? The two do different things, IMHO. 75 is a little long for a normal lens. Not to second-guess the grand strategy . . . . and that 75 is one of my favorites. But I'd keep both, if possible.

Congrats. Enjoy the new gear.

Congrats! One of the Leica 75s is on my list for the future, although I may try to pick up a C-V 75/2.5 first to make sure I like the FL on a RF.

Lucky man!

The 75 'lux is also on my list (after many other things happen, other than of course it being given to me). I don't think the 50 'lux is redundant. You should rethink that strategy.

Another vote for keeping the 50. I have both the 50 and 75 lux and I don't find them redundant at all. For one thing, the 50 is significantly lighter and more compact than the 75.

I looove short telephotos. I, also, prefer using one lens only. Further more I understant trying to offset some to the cost and feel a bit less guilty of the new buy. But, I will agree with the rest. Keep the 50. Even if doing so is to prevent you from a future GAS attack needing a 50!

Well, I have a Tri-Elmar, I have a Elmar 2.8 and a vintage 3.5... It seems a bit much for just one focal length.....Anyway the problem may resolve itself. I have no takers for the lens yet.

The lux 50 is in my wishlist for when I grow up. But it's second. The first is the Lux 35.

Despite your abundance of 50s, you should keep this 'lux, Jaap.

BTW, does it have a 43mm or 46mm filter size?

I think I would find the 75mm/1.4 M lens too heavy which is why I went for the Summicron alternative. It's a great lens too, and now one of my favorites, especially for close-ups.

Here are 75mm/2 some example shots I just added to my website:
Water Lillies (landscapes/maine23.html)
Keep America Fat! (city/boston25.html)
Chinatown Milk Drink (city/boston26.html)

I thought that too, but then I tried one first on my M6TTL and I found that the slightly larger camera balances quite well with this lens, better than my M3, which I compared. It is not a small/light lens, but it is-for me- not an issue on the TTL. As to your examples-wow!

Still, Jaap... don't sell it.

I just played with a 'lux like yours last Saturday. An exhilarating experience, indeed, to be able to shoot in a poorly illuminated location at 1/30th of a second.

Must Control Self.

😱

Hi there,

I am happy for you. I got one last Saturday at the local dealer. Mine is a used Leitz 75 Summilux made in Canada. It was selling for a good price and I just couldn't resist. 😀 It is lighter than the current version though it is the same forumla. That is good enough for me. I am looking around for the lens hood on my 75 'lux.

Cheers,
Annie

No substitute for the 50mm if that's your thing, and no substitute for speed. 😀 Yep the 75 lux is a big gorgeous piece of glass, but looks like according to specs only about 30% heavier than the cron. I've found it rests in the palm quite ideally. Considerations for the cron are handling and supposedly higher performance with all other factors being equal. In other words, the 50-75-90 area is chock full of nice choices!
