Most of us have owned or used a variety of digital cameras. They all have their own look. Got any favorites, meaning the sensor and maybe image processor package?

I've kept an old Fuji S5 Pro for the look of the files. The sensor is unique.

Here's a link to some Nikon sensor/camera info. I'll try to find more.

Canon makes their own sensors

Here's a big list of makers

My favorite sensor is the Olympus 12mp in the E-P1. It renders colors more like color negative film than any other sensor that I've used.

I have an E-P3 and it produces nothing like colour negatives. Even though I like the blues and greens from Oly sooc jpeg.

I'd like to try a Sigma X3 sensor for the ability of capturing subtle colours that are usually lost when using Bayer filtered sensors.

Ricoh GRD 4 produces some nice colours, sooc jpeg.

That's funny, the results so far. As soon as I saw the question, instead of mulling it over forever, unable to make a decision, the instant obvious answer that popped into my head was the Super CCD sensor in the Fuji S5 Pro.
I am kind of surprised I have this much company.

And this, from PKR:
"I've kept an old Fuji S5 Pro for the look of the files."

Exactly. Why else would we even shoot digital except for "the look of the files." Seems that would be the whole reason to even press a shutter.

Oh, yeah, I am forgetting what I learned from Mr. Marketing Person: "This one over here, it has more megapickles. Ergo, more better"

My old OMD EM5 which was stolen over two years ago, was insured and because the mark two came out when I made the claim they quoted me for the mark two which was a big step up. I ended up using the cash to "upgrade" to an a7.

But man the files! Really just beautiful files, even in raw i could happily make minimal edits. Whereas the sony - well although its been in my bag the every day for nearly two years and is worn like it, ive only taken 17K images with it when I do I get hit with a mental block to make the edits to end up with a file.

Even now Im moving to canon but if I didnt need high ISO for my events work I would Buy another one with no hesitation

I don't think any digital sensor really produces color like color negative film, but in my use the Oly 12mp gets closest.

I guess I've never met a digital sensor I didn't like. The color from my Leica Digilux 2 was memorable, as was my M8.2. Fuji X100, X10; LeicaSonic D-Lux 3 and 4. Nikon D300 and D700--especially the D700. Presently using mostly D-700, Leica M9 except that it's in Germany getting its little sensor replaced; Leicasonic D-Lux6; X-20. All have been to my liking.

I have to back up Rob on the D2

The Leica processing really makes magical photos.

Epson RD-1 is possibly my favorite for Jpegs. Considering it has the same sensor as the Nikon D70 I would tack it up to process as well.

Same with the E-P2 and E-PL1 with setting to "natural colors". Awesome colors. Reminds me of Reala film.

For some, not me, AF speed / accuracy is as important or more important than file size.

For me, the sensor in the Nikon Df was really nice. It stood out compared to Fuji, Sony, and Leica stuff that I've used. That said, all of them work fine for me.
