Hi fellow forum members, I just got this lens and will like to get a lens hood mostly for protecting the front element, and cutting down the lens flare when needed.

Do you know about any alternatives to the original one?

I dont feel like paying 140 euros for a lens hood. Has anyone used the ones been sold in Ebay, or even the 7artisans one?

Thank!

The thing that’s really nice about the OEM hoods is the spring bayonet fitting. If that doesnt matter then just pick up a $5 one off ebay. I use those on my lenses that do not have that option.

What's spring bayonet fitting? What are the benefits? Thanks!

The hood fits on the chrome outer bayonet ring around the filter thread and locks into place in the correct position held there by a spring so the hood won't move. The hood can also be mounted in the reversed position. Another advantages is the filter thread is not used by the hood, which makes using filters easier.

But here's the thing. the ZM 35/1.4 is superbly flair resistant and doesn't really need a hood. I don't use one on mine, and instead just use a decent UV filter to protect the front element. No issues so far.
