Can the Summitar collapse fully into the body of the Ikon? I suspect not, because in a past thread it was mentioned that the Elmar can't be fully collapsed, but I wanted to find out if my hunch is correct. Has anyone tried a Summitar with the Ikon?

Anyone with a summitar and Ikon?

I have both but have film in the camera. Open the back keep the shutter open (on Bulb) and mount the collapsed lens to see if it protrudes past the shutter.

Thanks for the response. I have the Ikon but not the Summitar, which I've been thinking seriously of acquiring. So I can't test it myself yet.

The reason for the question is that I'm looking for lenses that will make a compact combination with the Ikon. If the Summitar can collapse successfully, then that's a plus.

Troy,

The Summitar is a nice lens and worth considering even if it does not fully collapse.

Les

I think I'll pick one up, even if it doesn't fully collapse.

at least it's OK on my Bessa. I think Bessa and ZI should share the same body size....

It's good to know that the 'cron collapses on the Bessa (I have an R3A and a ZI, and I agree that their body cavities are similarly sized).
