I just acquired a CV Heliar 75mm f/1.8 lens. Am I correct that the field of view of a 75mm lens lies somewhat outside the 85mm framelines in the Zeiss Ikon camera? And how far might "somewhat" be? Thank you.

It will probably bring up 50mm framelines, if I recall well, if you draw imaginary lines to connect the ends of horizontal and vertical parts of the frame, you will have the 75mm view.

As Marek said, it will probably bring up the 50mm framelines. Assuming it does, there's a simple way to visualize "virtual" 75mm framelines.

1. Use the ends of the vertical 50mm framelines as the top and bottom borders of the virtual 75mm framelines.

2. Use ends of the horizontal 50mm framelines as the right and left borders of the virtual 75mm framelines.

Done! It may take a little practice, but it works.

the easiest way to test is open the back and put shutter on bulb, open. look at what will be in the frame through the back, compare to what's in the frame in vf. Sometimes helps to tape off the opening with scotch or some other semi translucent tape

Yes, the 50mm framelines do come up, and using the virtual 75mm framelines sounds like a winner. Thanks, all!
