I was wondering if anyone could post a pic of what the ZI battery cap looks like on the inside. I know this sounds odd but...I put fresh batteries in the other day and now it is not working. I have tried multiple sets of batteries since then and the only thing I can think of is that there is something seriously wrong or the small metal piece fell out of the battery cap but I don't remember it it every had those. Thanks guys.

Hi,
Just to be sure : You remember that on the ZI, the + side must point toward the bottom of the battery housing, the minus side pointing toward the cap ?

Yes the metal contact in the housing has a little positive sign on it. Of course I also inverted them when nothing else worked. Does your zi have metal contacts in the cap?

Another probably stupid guess (sorry)... How do you know that the camera is not working? No LED indicator in the viewer when half depressing the shutter release button? Is the main switch unlocked? Also, if I remember well, the camera is off until you have advanced the film.

Well-known
Patrick, if batteries are inserted and camera is working you should be able to spot the shutter time led on your left in the viewfinder.. Without batteries the shutter won't works.

Hi Dino,
I'm not the one having the problem
I'm sure that if the main switch is set to OFF, you won't get any led illuminated in the viewfinder. I'm not sure for the film advance lever, and I don't want to shoot now just to test. But I'm almost sure that if the film has not been advanced, you'll get no LED either.

Thanks all for the help. It turns out that there was a bit of corosion in the cap. It looked like just discoloration but after cleaning lightly it works good as new.
