Thanks, Fanman. I'm still trying to figure this lens out even after shooting several rolls with it. That last link shows some interesting photos. Funky background in some, but I think he's trying to show the way you can manipulate depth of field with it & how the focus works.

I'm not surprised -- my C/Y 85 and Contax T2 Sonnars (or rather Ernostars) are like that too.

The so-called "Sonnar look" (and I'm not sure if it actually exists) is vastly overrated, even when the subject is in focus. My 105 DC Nikkor is superior in every way except for angular coverage and filter size ... PLUS you can control how the background looks.
