I've searched the forum and read all over and still I'm confused. Is there a solution for a missing take-up spool on the Z4/Mir? I don't want to pay for shipping from FSU and don't have a machine shop.

Hi,
I hope this link helps... It seems pretty straight forward.
Mike Elek's 'Making your own film spool' site (click link)
Cheers!

That solution is suitable for Kiev/Contax but NOT for Zorki/Mir.
For the Zorki/Mir's solution, if you have some advanced tool such as a lathe, check this link.

Oleg sells replacement spools for the Zorki (click "Russian Cameras" in the Cool Links section). I think there's a minimum $30 order on parts, though.
Might want to check the Ebay seller alex-photo. He sometimes has parts.
