I picked up a Zorki 4 with 5cm f/2 Jupiter J-8 lens without damage at the show for a song. This camera is in excellent working condition except for one problem. The rf vertical will not adjust to proper alignment. After removing the top cover it looks as though the small mirror pivot assembly is supposed to have top and bottom alignment pins which are not present. As a result this assembly tilts back and forth when operating the focus.

Anybody know where I can find a breakdown diagram which would show these parts or where I might obtain them?

I'd like to get this camera fixed in part because it is the version with engraved shutter speed numbers as opposed to the version where these numbers are silk screened.

The pivots are actually minute ball bearings, if I recall correctly. You could try a bearing supplier, shouldn't be hard to get (knowing the size might be a problem though). I might be able to measure some for you if there's no rush. I may also have some, I'll check later.

Thanks

I have a number of ball bearings that I'll go through this weekend and see if any work.

A good source of little ball-bearings (if you're like me and never throw anything away that might come in handy one day) is old hard-drives.

I needed some 5/64" bearings (as near 2mm as makes no difference) and eventually found them in the motor bearings of some old Quantum (90% sure it was Quantum) drives of the 270MB - 540MB era.

Steve.
