Hi All
I bought a zorki 4k at a carboot mainly because I wanted the Jupiter 8 lens - it has some issues - and I was wondering if I could fix it - never had a zorki (only FEDs) and it seems very nice.
So here goes with the isues it has
1. When selecting the slow speeds and firing the shutter the curtain closes, but does not complete its travel - can see a bit of the metal laths on the RHS of the film cutout when viewing the camera with the back open this on all slow speeds from 1/60th to 1 - the laths start at the left on 1 , and gradually move over to the right as the speed increases.
(When I got it the shutter was behaving like this on all speeds, however with exercise the fast speeds work OK now - with the occassional Zwiiick sound that wolves knows about - so I know I can fix that)
2. The speed selector doesnt move to 30th or to B
3. There seems to be quite a gap between the body and the threaded ring the lens fits in.(never seen a zorki 4 so would not know if this is right)
okay now for the questions
Are issues 1 and 2 fixable?
Do all Zorki 4k's have the space between the threaded lens ring and the body?
Or is this a body for me to practice on and salvage spares from?
Thanks in advance for all answers
Nath

Thanks Richard for your reply - I was worried about the lens mount looks peculiar.
I am going to use the sticky how to CLa the 4K and get it fixed - they are really nice - a big clear viewfinder, much better than the FEDS - Dont know why I havent tried one before
Thanks again

Just drop a PM to RFF member "M. Valdemar", he's a specialist of those issues.I bought a zorki 4k at a carboot mainly because I wanted the Jupiter 8 lens - it has some issues - and I was wondering if I could fix it - never had a zorki (only FEDs) and it seems very nice.

If it's in need of a CLA (likely) then you can do no worse to it really by following the "how to" of mine. If it still refuses to work afterwards, you've lost nothing and gained a good lens...

Hi Wolves
My thinking as well - i cant really make it any worse than it is now - and at least I will learn something in the process.

I managed to CLA my 4K using wolves3012's (brilliant) guide, it was fairly easy. Just be sure to follow the instructions on removing the winder, I didn't and the spring is very hard to get back in, and slices your hands up real nice!
