I was asked on a long forgotten thread a couple of weeks ago for a sample pic from the Olympus 40mm lens.
I have finally got the test film done, and I've posted one here:

From memory, this was f5.6 1/250th and it certainly is on HP5+.
Contrast is extremely low (as you might expect), with an overall soft dreamy look. PS supplied a lot of the contrast in the sample pic.
On a larger print you can see quite how smoky the out of focus areas have been drawn. The in focus areas have that quality of being all there, but nothing having a hard edge.
There is some potential here for some fun, I think.
I used the current CV 40mm finder. I've no great observation of the framing accuracy, so it must be roughly right.

I like the picture; the look compliments the subject very nicely.

I like that ... very well composed, and the contrast is not surprising given the lighting. I agree, lots of potential for fun. Kodachrome?

Thanks - and hoods
Thanks - and hoods
For the compliments.
The lens has an A36 front end. If anybody knows of a source of push on hoods (not caps) I'd be grateful to hear.
Such things are mentioned on cameraquest, but Stephen says that it was a mistake, and he doesn't have any.

Occasionally "Alex-Photo" on the bay has push-on hoods for the Industar/fed collapsible (50mm/f3.5) lenses. The other option might be the Leitz/Leica a36 to 39 adapter(can't remember the letter code for it)?

Is "A36" 36mm O.D.? Pardon my ignorance.

I think that's the SOOGZ. I'm hunting for one in the usual places. Thanks for the tip about Alex-Photo

I recently bought a push-on hood from ePay seller aberdaberdoo. Wasn't OEM for the camera I needed, but it works, the price (including shipping) was fair and transaction was very smooth.
