I have read as much of the threads regarding these comparisons but still have questions. I currently have the VC 40/1.4 MC and on impulse bid on a Hexanon 50/2 on the 'bay. Didn't expect to get it at $300 but no one else bid on it so its mine now!
I would really like to keep it but fear that the 40 and the 50 are too simular in fov. Does anyone have experiences with the follow as too coverage:
Minolta Rokkor CLE 40/2
Hexanon 50/2
VC 40/1.4
Summicron 35/2 (versions?)
Summicron 50/2 (versions?)

Nice to have this but as I understand it the fov on the lenses in question may be closer to 35 or 50 than is standard, so trying to determine where the VC 40/1.4 falls. I hate something that is neither fish nor fowl so want a clear jump to the next fov!

i have read that the cv 40 is closer to 43.
can't speak to the others for specifics but in real life shooting the difference is likely a step forward or back.

Film Dino, I did this diagram once in Powerpoint. There are also a couple
of variants in http://ferider.smugmug.com/gallery/738131.
The Nokton's actual focal length is 42mm, pretty much in the middle
between 35 and 50. 2tcreative, don't worry about having the two
focal lengths. Look at it this way: many people carry both 28 and 35.
These two are as far apart as 40 and 50. Congrats on your
Hexanon, you can always sell it for more than what you spent.
What camera do you shoot with ?
Best,
Roland.

Not so new now.
Why not just try it out? Then you can post the results.

Beautiful camera - my favorite M.
25/40/50 will give you a nice combo on the M2 - modify the Nokton
for 35mm framelines, use the 50 for portraits, and the 40 + 25 for
street/landscape ....

It is the LH-1 that is made for the 21/25/28 lenses. I got it for $25 at the Dallas camera show a couple of weekends ago! Plastic but works really well for it.
