In praise of the Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 50f/1.8 (radioactive version)

Thanks, don't worry... there's no rush, there's always a lot to do with two daughters and little time for the rest... I know something about it
👍
Right, so the pictures at the beginning of the post are APX100 in 6ml of rodinal for 10.5mins.

The pics on post #7 is HP5+ in HC110, 6ml for 8mins.

30 first seconds is constant inversions, once every minute after that.

After rinsing the fixer, I dip the reel in a pot with water and a *tiny* drop of washing up liquid, there should be just a very small of soap bubbles, and hang it to dry. It helps with drying spots.

When it is completely dry I gently wipe it with a microfibre cloth. Any dust or spots are cloned out in GIMP.

Tempter! But no, I’m not going back to SLRs … although I helped my daughter choose a Pentax MX recently, and I was a little bit envious. 😬
Who needs an SLR, as long as it's a 50mm and not a 55 or a 58 then a Shotten R-50 will give you RF coupling on an M. The M42 one works very well. I currently have a 50/1.8 Oreston on one and it is great. I'm picking up a Thorium Pancolor in a couple of weeks when I pass by family; looking forward to it.

The attached picture is a straight out of camera JPEG RF focussed at 6 feet on the Kodachrome box with the Oreston at 1.8. The zoom is at 100%.

That’s a very interesting thought. Honestly I’d never considered it. Thanks for that. 👍

My one comment is get exactly the right one for your target lens. What I mean is don't get a PK one hoping to use a M42/K adapter. It works but the M42 one pushes the aperture pin whilst the combination doesn't; though I have done DKL to K to M and achieved reasonable RF focussing with a Bessamatic Septon (but that was just playing about).
