hi all, part of the query has been covered before but i have a specific questions about swapping levers on M4 with those M2/M3 style

i got hold of NOS self-timer and frameline preview levers for M2, with their matching retaining screws

i brought them to my repairsperson and later he reported that the replaced self timer lever would just stop towards the end of its action path, at the protruded little ball button, and with a tiny bit of a push it goes over its stop and continue to finish the self timing action

he suspected it to be a matter of production tolerance/ specs variation.

while i have seen successful replacement of similar operation, i wonder if anyone has any idea/ experience on this?

do you think bending the ST lever abit tilted, or just a wee bit of filing on the ST lever would do? and make me a happy all metal levers M4 user? the replaced metal advance lever is asking me that question, too:bang:

How about getting a M2? With proper metal levers? ;-)
Maybe the tension of the ST mechanism needs to be a little increased. I don't think the system has been altered over time.

I have an M4 with M2 style levers. The ST has maybe someting like 0.1 mm space over the ST button. Exactly the same as on my M2. Have you still got the cover/washer in place? Indeed perhaps tension needs increased a bit. I wouldn't bend the lever (if it is at all possible without tools).
Good luck with the job. It certainly makes it a classic looking M4!

Rob, You wouldn't want to exchange the M4 for an M2. An M2 is simply NOT the same as an M4 with metal levers. An M4 is in a class of its own. Like an M2, that is! ;)
