APO Lanthar 90mm with Tri-X EI 3200

With all the discussion on whether to choose the 75mm or 90mm, I thought a candid from the 90mm might help with the making the decision.

Bessa R2 with APO-Lanther 90mm f3.5 on Tri-X EI 3200 - D76 1:1

In case you were following my troubled relationship with my Bessa R2, this is from my most recent roll of film from the Bessa. As you can tell we are friends again.

That's a great shot. The grain appears to be quite smooth for 3200 ISO. Good job!

Very nice expression and shot. I find the tonality, grain and shadows to be not very pleasing though. Shadows too fogged, muddy and with grain I find not particularly nice. The lighting does not look like you needed 3200, did you really? What shutter speed was this?

Nice. I would decrease the brightness, or increase the contrast a bit whule keeping the highlights as they are. But that is somewhat irrelevant here.

I used D76 1:1 for 16:00 minutes at 20°C(68°F) in D76 1:1. I modified the agitation to 5 slow inversions at the beginning. Then I used 3 slow inversions over 10 secs at the beginning of each minute till I reach 13 minutes. I left the film in the tank to stand develop till 16:00 minutes.

This was an experimental roll. The Tri-X was not fresh, so there was significant base fog to deal with leaving the mid-tones muddy. Also the negative was underexposed, leaving a thin negative. So it was far from perfect. Do not remember exact exposure details, but I could have just as easily used ISO400 as ISO3200 for this photo. Thanks for the critique.

Thanks, since the negative was underexposed, I tried to keep more shadow details and pulled the contrast back a bit, maybe too much. Thanks.

No Leica here! So you will have to ask the experts if I managed replicate that 'Leica' glow. Thanks.
