I'm on the verge of ordering a Jupiter 12 to use on my Leica M3 (which is due to arrive tomorrow). I've used FSU lenses in the past both on my Bessa-R...LTM, of course...and on my M2 with an LTM>M adaptor.

Are INEXPENSIVE LTM>M adaptors available from any of the FSU sources? I hate the thought of paying $50-$75 for an adaptor when there may be others out there considerably cheaper.

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Hi, I'm just curious and I'm kinda confused, you said in the past you've used FSU lenses with your M2 with the LTM>M adaptor...

but now you're looking for another adaptor? is the previously mentioned one not yours?

I took some time waiting for eBay adapters to pop up after getting my M5. With a little time you should be able to get them cheaply. I started out with a $40 Voigtländer adapter from the RFF classifieds, then I got a Leica adapter for 20 EUR including shipping (from France) and a 35/135 Voigtländer adapter for 23 EUR off eBay.

I would NOT use anything other than a Voigtlander or Leica Adapter, and here's why: I've read, if the space between the Adapter and lens mount is more than, say 1.1 or 1.2mm, it will throw your Infinity focus off. Yes, good Adapters are pricey. Consider it part of your lens investment. Generally, once I mount an Adapter [like to the CV 25/4]... it stays with the lens.

Good luck, Mike

Good point Patrick. Some adapters however are machined from alloy and are not chrome plated.

I've got two: a genuine Leitz ($60), and a Chinese one ($18 incl. shipping). You can see the Leitz is better finished, but both perform just fine.

You're right, Payasam...the M2---WITH adaptor---was stupidly sold some years ago. And looking back, it was not an FSU 35 I used with it but an A. Schacht of Ulm f3.5. Schacht and Steinheil (together with others) made LTM lenses before the M's came out. Excellent lenses, too. I assume they are still available on the used market but finding them is extremely difficult nowadays.

I use three different cheap Chinese adapters to fit my 35/50/85mm FSU lenses on my M2. Finish won't be up to Leitz specs (35mm J-12 distance setting mark sitting a bit left of the middle), but all three adapters work just fine: distances are spot on.
