SPECULATION: M-mount CV 90mm anytime soon?

With the trend that CV has been showing lately of reissuing their LTM lenses in M-mount, what do you think are the odds that (the celebrated) Mr. K will do so with the 90mm Lanthar?

While the Summarits are imminent, the cost of the 90mm is more than what I paid for all of my other lenses. As I am still reeling from my M8 purchase the price/performance ratio of CV lenses is unmatched.

Your thoughts....

Question to Lanthar owners: have you ever unmounted the lens only to leave the adaptor stuck in the bayonet mount? That is the concern I have over using an LTM + Adaptor combo. I would be using John Milich's pre-milled adaptors, if I went this way.
 
When I had the CV90/3.5, I left the adapter on the lens all the time. Unless there's something wrong with the bayonet mount on the body, the lens/adapter will not screw loose when taking it off the camera.

As to whether you'll see an M version soon, I don't know. But the lens doesn't need a very large rear element, so the size of the LTM suffices.
 
I just tried to unscrew my adapter and it was too tight to do by hand and when I stuck it on the camera and unscrewed without pressing the button it took some torque. I don't think you would have anything to worry about.

I use a cheap (cost not construction) adapter that I got off of ebay. It is very well made and like I said, I haven't had any focus errors or anything. I think with shipping it cost less than $15.00.

B&H had the LTM version in stock up until the end of August and then it said expected arrival in October and now it says November so perhaps Mr. K has this up his sleeve.

And, hopefully, making the M mount more like the new CV LTM>M adapters which apparently will be more "coding-friendly" than the old ones thus assuring the public their production will be second to none.

And of course Henry The Horse dances the waltz!😀

I don't know why there should be anything specific to a Lanthar, but I have adapters on a number of my LTM lenses (adapters made by CV and Leica), and I have never had that problem with either my Bessa-R4A or my M6 - with the release button depressed there isn't anywhere near enough resistance to unscrew the adapter.
 
I learned here that the rear cap that comes with the leica thread to m mount adapters has 3 ovals on it that can be used to remove the M mount from the camers if it gets stubborn!

Hi, I think the possibility about a 90mm Apo-Lanthar and the 75mm Color-Heliar M-mount is not close, why?

- The 90mm Apo-Lathar and the 75mm Color-heliar are not a demanded lenses, so CV prefer to stay in the option for a big market including the L-mount users plus adapters L-M.

- CV have been changed to L to M mount some lenses that they consider marketable, examples the 35mm (popular in the RF users), 21mm (a considerable option for wide photography), 25mm (related with the release of the Epson R-D1 that makes a 37.5mm in this camera, close to the standar 35mm), 40mm (related with the release of the R-4).

I'm also interested in a 90mm Apo-Lanthar and 75 Color Heliar, but I think we have to wait a little bit more, the RF is not to much comercial for the market and CV is more conservative... BUT we can just wait for this moment happens!

They may have moved towards what is marketable - but not workable in the long run. Keeping their L mount lenses would make the most sense for M8 users given the Milich adapters.

Unless Cosina can find a way to give us notches to code their M mount lenses...

So you think a better chance of a M-mount replacement for the (discontinued) 35/1.7 and 28/1.9 Ultrons then?

If Cosina was that conservative they would have never made rangefinders in the first place 😉
 
I know Sean Reid has posted a review of 90mm lenses, but can anyone post some pics take with the 75mm Color Heliar? I've been seeing some discussion here on the "perfect lens combo" and the 75mm keeps popping up.

Well, thanks! My daughter (also featured on my avatar, while spinning on an office chair) tends to be the model to test my lenses. In this particular case (the 75 Heliar) she thinks the lens is too sharp, all the skin defects show without mercy... 🙂 She prefers my 85/2 Jupiter-9... 🙂
