How did the M8 break your computer system's monitor?
Or am I misunderstanding what you've stated in your post.

Not bad at all (price wise). I can't see your average consumer DSLR being any cheaper in repair.

I've always referred to it as the LCD. My post above copied the exact invoice sent back from Leica. They call it the monitor.

From time-to-time we hear about outrageous costs from Leica USA. Also, lots of chats about warranty----1 yr; 2 yr; etc. My observation is that there have been some rare M8 problems out of the box that have had to go back. Annoying, but nothing more. Very few reports of off-warranty expensive failures and/or other out-of-pocket costs. That's the point of this post. Aside from my accident at a "reasonable"🙂 $356, isn't there anyone who can report a repair charge?

Search around the forums...I recall someone said their shutter was damaged and Leica said it wasn't a warranty fix and was charging them $750 or something. Don't remember where I read it though, sorry.

doesn't sound to bad considering the cost of the camera and its worth fixing. Thats what I don't like about digital camera's with their lcds (no VF either) is that they tend to scratch or break.
