I am in a bit of a daze . pertially 'cos I am aching and the ASdee dee'sorientation has kicked in big time , but also , 'cos a year ago any Leica was just a dream .

then e-bay sales fuelled a Leica madness , not to mention ex-USSRcrazee ...

And today , Officially , with my '' banker's '' very reluctant participation , I have my CHROME M8 ... it was to be a black demo model , but it was permitted to loose another £300 on a classic chromm camera - I love it , but too fazed to read the manual yet .

However , i know why I induged .

It has all the traditional controls which are '' right '' for me , modern SLRs just don't feel right , not like my Minolta Srt ... Ok , this is a rangefinder , which is supposedly new to me , but my ASdee head seems to ''know '' this . It may seem trivial , bu very few things are real to me as my Leicas ...

Promising initial results , printed page wide open !/30th 'cos it's dark outside , with [ sacrilege ] new black Jupiter 8 - Ok , I tried the Summitar , but am terrified of collapsing it inadvertantly , and no rigid Leica lense - yet ... have 3x Rigid I 22 s coming home from full servicing , should be interesting , as the '' Elmar '' look is my favourite , but the collapsible aperture setting isn't ... maybe a proper 35mm lense , but arm twisting for wasting inheritance for retirement , given pension thrown away on Equitable Life ...

I llike the quasi 75 mm framing though !

i am not too bothered by all the horror stories - my dealer knows me - nand the ASdee - and i know that he will get anything sorted .. 10 years on - who knows ?

Once I have found out how to key it all in to the mac - no more worries about scanning etc ! I can post pics - maybe in the new year ?

total indugence - my parents turning in their graves - YEEEEESSSSS .

I absolutely love this. I am so pleased to hear of your purchase, and to read that you have a Jupiter on an M8.

Dee, some people have put tape around the barrels of the collapsible lenses to avoid accidentally collapsing them into cameras. Might be worth looking into.

Congratulations on the M8! And I too think it's great that you're using the Jupiter, I can imagine some Leicaphiles writhing in agony as they read this :)

Congrats man, but maybe you should ask to have this thread moved out of the "M8 Reported Problems" sub-forum...unless you're not superstitious :D

Dee, I just joined the club too. I've had the camera for exactly a week now. I am reluctant to report my condition of remorse due to the fact of having absolutely no buyers remorse. Its strange. I have the thousand yard stare...but I am actually HAPPY about it.

I’m new to the culture as well. After less than 30-days, I’m hooked. The M8 w/28-cron’ was a bitch to pay for but what the hell. Everything I’ve purchased was the latest and greatest although I could have saved a bundle had I not been so demanding. The diminutive accessories I’ve purchased after the fact, quickly added another thousand to my initial acquisition but that’s a reality you’ll soon realize.
Regards,:D

Thanks everyone , i am still in a daze about my M 8 ...
I realise now , why it seems to bypass my Autistic stuff - the shutter speed dial is like an clock face rather than a digital clock or shutter selection - I have a visual reminder of what i aam diong and what is going on , also , for the 1st time ever , I am really understanding the relationship of the various settings .
In a sense, the quality of the pics is less of '' an issue '' which is somewhat suspect , I assume !
I guess when I get into raw , it will be deeferent !
I am content with the pictorial ''feel '' of my Summitar and Elmar , I am buying a 35mm and 90mm of a similar vintage from Carl in this forum .
Agian , sharp and modern is not what feels right to me - from the 1st slides back from my Leica III c [ and USSR pretenders ! ] it was like this is right and familiar !
It's just so simple to hold and use , I don't miss / need '' live view '' , nor all the doostorted handling and bumps on a DSLR - not to mention the cracky plasytic finish on most of 'em .
