Monocles for Kiev RF cameras

Hello! Not a long ago I created a wide-angle monocle for Kiev camera. I described the process on my site in Russian and then received several inquiries via e-mail to translate the article into English. Today I completed the job (my English is not good enough to do it rapidly and without mistakes 🙂 ). Maybe it will be interesting to you too to learn, to ask me any questions about the topic or to share your experience. You are welcome. Here is this article:

Very interesting, and thankyou for the effort! There is some strong interest in this subject. I "hacked" together a 50mm monocle lens onto an I61 mount for a friend. Collimated it to be RF coupled in LTM. It is headed for a Leica M8.

I also created a monocle coupled with RF. It is 135 mm monocle based on Jupiter-11. I wiill translate the article later on. But for wide-angle monocle I could not find approriate 35 mm lens to insert it into the J-12 tube. So, I had to re-mark the distance scale and uose Kiev as a scale focus camera. You know the problem of Kiev bayonet, I guess - only 7 lenses can be mounted on it. For M39 thread there are much greater variety of lenses and you have more freedom when you construct your own lens.

I bought a clear window to convert my Nikon Coolpix 950 to Infrared from anchoroptics. They are an outlet for Edmonds.

They carry a line of Meniscus lenses, and others. Looks like $6.50 for a 35mm FL 15mm Diameter lens.

To be accurate, J-12 is 37mm lens. Anyway, thank you for the hint, link you gave is very useful.

I took a look to your site, the explanation to modify the lens is quite well organized and clear, however I still not understand what is a monocle lens, probably something I lost in translation, can you explain further?

This means a lens with the only glass (preferrably, meniscus with its concaved side turned to the front of the lens).
