I know we should all be shooting - always. But once in a while the camera goes into a bag for transport. If you carry it everywhere, every day, how do you solve this? Currently I have mine in an ordinary, rather empty bag. I don't know whether thats good, or bad, or whatever. Do you have any advice on transporting M's for everyday purpose? Do i need a properly padded bag or will they not mind lying in an ordinary bag with other stuff.

You should use whatever you feel comfortable with - shoulder, sling or backpack. Many photographers use non-descript bags of every style. Thwarts thieves and pickpockets. Many newer style camera bags are pretty non-descript these days. I use various bags to hold as much or as little as I feel for the day. I have added padding to the bottom to protect whatever is inside from bangs and knocks.

Thermos and the like insulated lunch bags are great - cheap and padded. I doubt the Leica is a snob but it is best to keep it cushioned apart from other hard objects in a bag.

I use the inner padded bit out of a billingham hadley inside a cycle courier's bag. Loads of pockets and even a laptop compartment.
