My elderly M6 needs a service and minor repair to the film rewind crank. Can anyone recommend someone who can do this for me?

Thanks

He's worked on my M6 and a friend's IIIG. I also believe he's done work for Leica on some of their museum cameras. Both my friend and myself were very impressed.

He can talk for England when it comes to Leica.

I've used Malcolm for servicing my large format lenses, and I've bought a couple of lenses from him - a 135mm Elmar and my latest, which I should receive on Tuesday, a 35mm Summaron screw with an M adaptor.

When I was living in the area, I'd go over to see him and spent an enjoyable couple of hours learning each time. He has some genuine Bugatti vises, obtained from the factory at Mulhouse by the late Hugh Conway. They are beautiful objects in their own right.

A few years ago, he admitted that he can't repair the electronics in the newer cameras, but anything mechanical or optical he can fix. He's also got a lens coating machine, although one of former clients, James Ravilious, used to get him to take the coatings off the lenses.

Steve, Nick. yoyo - thanks for the info - I hope not to have to use it, but it's good to know it's there should the need arise!

Either Malcolm Taylor or Peter at CRR in Luton will do a fine job. The latter just serviced my heavily used M2 and it came back feeling like a new camera. BTW, it's best to contact CRR by phone or letter – he's been having trouble with his email again.

I should add that the only reason I didn't mention CRR is becasue I've never used them. They have a first class reputation.

Speaking of Ravlious, there's a new edition of a book of his photographs that is _highly_ recommended. He was an outstanding photography of rural life in Devon. My copy arrived a couple of weeks ago.

I second CRR. I 've done three CLA's and one repair on M's with them, all cameras came back in tip-top condition. Peter is a very nice guy too.
