California (Bay Area, Northern) very short visit to SF

Here are directions from the nearest BART station (Montgomery is probably most direct), it's not too bad a walk, and after all you wanted to see SF and walk around and shoot no? ;-)

Anyway, this is the Google provided directions showing the highlighted walk though if you look at the map it's easy enough to ignore the recommendation from Google and just head up Montgomery St, bear left at Columbus and straight up to Green.

Yeah, it's a good walk through downtown, chinatown (if you detour a little), Broadway and up Columbus through North Beach. You'll get a sense of SF, all right.

Thanks for putting the directions up Rich, I hadn't thought about that. Some good Chinatown kitsch on Grant.

Actually, Rich, I really like the directions provided in the 1st link. Spain would be cool :D

Have fun tomorrow. Be sure to post some pics.

Spain would be awesome! Now you must really be upset you can't come? Sorry we'll miss you.

Now how did that happen? Especially since I used that link to create the tinyurl that follows it yet tinyurl is correctly SF? RFF must have cut it off somehow...

Well, good thing I posted the map image too!

oh, my aching feet! :(

Great day, though! :)

Nice to meet Brad and Ed, and great to see Rich and Randy again.

My rig for the day:
Hexar RF, Hex 50/2, Hex 28/2.8, Hex 90/2.8 (never saw the light of day), Canon 35/2.8

Result:
3.5 rolls of color
1 B&W

Waiting for the lab on the color stuff.

Post 'em when you get 'em.

Back at the hotel now. Thanks for a fantastic day. After I left you guys, I wandered along the waterfront till I got to Crissy Field, which I think is near the end of the Golden Gate Promenade path. It was going to be getting dark soon, so I looked at the map I had, and discovered I was nowhere near a BART station. I then went in a visual straight line towards the tall buildings, and eventually ran into Lombard St and decided to follow it. I went up and over that hill with the narrow, curvy road on the downhill side- that is sick, by the way- but when I saw another hill in front of me, decided discretion is the better part of valor and cut back to the (flat) waterfront. I eventually found my way to the Embarkadero BART station (which isn't signed all that well, by the way) and the rest was pretty routine. Fun day, but MY feet are killing me, too. Thanks again, and I'll evaluate/post pictures starting in the coming week. Probably the digital stuff first, of couse, for convenience.

Till next time,

Ed

I had someone recognize the Leica III for the first time today. We were passing and he said,"Hey, I recognize that!" He told me he used one in Africa and all over the world. A cool guy, and he has a studio there in North Beach. I'll see what else I have as I scan.

Thanx for looking!

Neat stuff Ray and Mike...

Can't believe it. This morning a couple friends from the south bay emailed and said they want to go and shoot in SF tonight for some night pix and asked me to come. Where? Northbeach (they don't know I was just there)! Sheesh, I haven't shot in a couple months and I'm now going to the same place two days in a row. Actually, I think it's going to be pretty dead tonight...
