Please help ease the headache.

My head is hurting please help me, i have just sold my little used cv lenses with the intension of buying a Zeiss Ikon, now i just about have the money in place im starting to look at Leica m5s (same price bracket) i definatly want ttl metering so a m5 looks a prospect too.I would miss the 28mm frameline if i opted for the m,although i could use the 28 on my R4a or get an external finder.Then do i need two body,s with virtualy the same framelines (Zeiss/R4a) so why not sell the R4a and club all the funds together forget about the Zeiss and buy a M6 ttl. The lenses i have are the cv 21, 28 1.9, 35 1.7, 50 1.5 and it will be be a long while before i can buy any Zeiss or Leica glass.As you can probably see im pretty mixed up and im usually the opposite and know what i want.Hope you can help ease the headache.

I feel your pain. I too have been resisting the siren call of the M5 for years. Substantial... last of the really well-made Leicas... great spot meter... under-valued.

First, I ended up with the M6 instead because I got a really great deal on one. At the time the M6 was generally selling used for more than a new Ikon, and for more than most of the M5s I saw for sale. Then I bought a new Ikon.

Since then the price of the M6 has been dropping and the price of the M5 rising. Presented with the current scenario, my choice would be the Ikon over the M6 or the M5. The Ikon's better finder, faster shutter, and AE make the choice easy.

But the bottom line is, you are considering buying a light-tight box to hold your film and lenses - any one of these will work well for you, albeit with different strengths. My advice is to Keep your Bessa for the wide framelines.

sell and go for an m6... it really is a very, very enjoyable camera to use and you'd be happy as all hell as long as they're still producing film (for the record i reckon that will be a while). don't worry a lick about not having any leitz lenses, really. technical performance doesn't mean sqat if there's no content if you catch my drift.

M6 classic prices are coming down to be pretty close to M5's, so either might be an option. The M5 is bigger, but not by much really. I love my M5, and shoot it with M7's and MP's, no big deal. I've never found fault with the design. Handling and VF info is certainly the M5's forte over the other M's, the cost being that little extra size.

I have had a good nights sleep and i am going with the majority of advice i have had its the Zi no questions the finder the base length have swayed me and i would not like to be down to one manual focus body if i sold the R4a,so i wil keep it for shooting wide and backup.I would still like a M6ttl but not at this time i have to much on financialy for the foreseable future. Just a couple of questions on the Zi how does it comapre in weight to the R4a and does it come with a nice leather strap or should i buy one ready for its arrival.Oh and im going with black.Thanks for all the advice i feel calmed now its not good for my bad heart all this will i wont i GAS🙂
