45mm f2.0 Planar G Lens Problem

I just purchased a used 45mm f2.0 G lens from eBay. Everything looks fine except the aperture ring, which looks like this:

This looks as if the aperture was f8.0, as a matter of fact, it is f2.0. I can't further turn counterclockwise.

Now I turn to F16, the aperture ring goes out of range, to the position like this:

Now my question is, does this still work fine for the AE accuracy? The aperture is still working, the glass is beautiful. This mis-aligned aperture ring is the only problem. Do I need to return the lens? Or, if I bring it to the repair shop, does anyone know the approximage cost for correction?

You'll hate me (and yourself) for this...

You'll find that when you mount the lens on the body, it will be "fixed" -- the portion with the index mark rotates into the correct position when you mount it.

You got that right. Thing is I did not notice it right away. My third lens (after the 45 and 90) was the 21. I bought it at a shop in Hong Kong that I visited on a business trip when I was living in Beijing in the late 90's. I did not bring my G2 with me however. On the flight from HK to BJ I was fondling the lens and noticed this seemingly off-set f/stop ring. I was pissed off! I bought the 21 "grey" for only about $600USD when they were something like over $1000USD new in the US. Thought I'd been had. I steamed over it the whole flight until I got it home and mounted it with a sigh of relief!

I believe that the 21mm and 28mm G biogons are the best available in that focal length for 35mm.

Be careful when mounting a lens on a G NOT to try to move the closest to the body part of the lens. (The two red dots (one on the body, the other on the lens) do not shift when mounting a lens; they just kiss and stay that way for better pictures!) That outside ring stays fixed, not like on SLRs; you rotate the next one in or forward on the lens!
