First off, welcome to one of the best places on the net.

Damn good question. Are there any stops (indents perhaps inside) when you turn the aperture ring? I know nothing about this camera but I wonder if someone who fixed (or perhaps screwed it up from the labeling perspective) changed it while repairing something else.

Open the back (no film), set the shutter speed to B (Bulb) and keep the shutter release pressed down as you look through the lens. Do you see aperture blades when it's set to 2.8? What about as you close down? I'd guess that the f-stop on the front of the lease is accurate to what they lens is and you will need experiment to see where f2.8 really is (between wide open (f1.9) and f4.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you make out. As others wake up you may see some smarter answers. She looks like too fun a camera to not use.

Maybe a stupid question but how can I know,
Wide open is 1,9f or 2,8 f?
I would take a couple of different approaches. First look to see what F stop that model was sold under. Do a Google search for the model and images look at the front of the lens where you see one .9 on yours and look for some that are like 28. Compare the size of the first element The one that you see when you look at the lens. The larger one will be 1.9 the smaller will probably be to 2.8 or 2.5 or something. That’s your best indication of what your actual largest aperture will be. Look for more than one example.

Thank you for the advice. Looks like it is a f1, 9. No I should understand how I can work with that correctly.

My Yashica 35 - just a little older than yours, lens s/n16898 - has the f1.9 lens, and a diaphragm ring with an f1.9 position. You either have a factory assembly error, or a repairer has swapped diaphragm rings.
