Acquired near mint Hex RF, and want to keep it that way, but will use it intensive. I am interested to know which case (half, whole) or other protection you use for your Hexar RF,

thanks

I got the dedicated case for the camera. If need be I'll remove the top half, but I tend to keep the whole case on. It's very well made -- keep looking for one!

I have a Luigi half case and strap. Very nice, good protection for the bottom half of the camera, good grip. If you use the camera a lot you'll inevitably create a few dings/wear marks. Don't stress about it. It's a great camera that deserves to be shooting. Protecting the camera is a good thing, but I'd see it more as prevention to keep the camera shooting for longer, not as preservation of a mint body.

I don't use a case for mine.

Knowing I'd use it a lot I bought a 'user' that already had some marks. If I use it to destruction I'd buy another knowing it was obviously money well spent.

I also find the Hexar really good to hold with no case.

i usually don't use one, unless i'm putting it in a bag with other stuff knocking around. i use the original neverready case for that. leave the top half in the bag while shooting. the epoxy is really tough. i don't think it even scratches, though a good knock might chip it.

I bought both my HRF's new, and while they show some obvious signs of use after about six years, it's mostly in the places where you'd know the cameras have had some serious film mileage (worn paint–anodizing?–around the shutter-release collar/mode switch). Except for a few nicks here and there, the paint finish is remarkably hardy, and since it's a mostly-flat epoxy finish, it's pleasantly warm to the touch...not a small deal to me at this time of the year. Never used a case with either one; that's what my Domke F-803 is for.

I'd say, if you want a case that doesn't get in the way, a Luigi half-case seems to be a good choice. But don't sweat a few small nicks here and there. A "mint" looking camera is one that likely hasn't seen much of interest, and where's the fun in that?

Enjoy that Hexar!

This was the case that just arrived from Luigi that was supposed to be for my Ikon! Looks damned fine on the Hexar don't you think ... I know they don't need a case but I mean to say ... how pretty is that? :p

I just acquired an as new condition RF and need to use it for one solitary project, and intend to sell it after that, but like you all, Id like to maintain that *brand new-never used* look on it.
