HELP!!! M6 Rewind knob bent! Need help removing

Well due to carelessness at a local college bookstore, my backpack was dropped on the ground by the guy who had to check my bag to prevent theft of books. The film rewind knob has been bent slightly, enough to rub against the indentation for it on the body and prevent easy twisting. I'm trying to straighten it back, but if not I will go talk to the people at the bookstore pay for it to get it repaired.

How do I get the rewind knob off?
 
The little release collar around the shutter release button screws off backwards (that is, screwing to the left tightens and to the right loosens) and then it's only a matter of lifting the wind knob off the chassis.

I suggest use something like those rubber grippy jar openers to keep from scratching the body.
 
1. check for a slot in the top of the stud that holds the knob. Get a screwdriver and fit it into the slot.
2. loosen off the set screw in the side of the knob.
3. twist off the knob.
4. if the slot is missing in step 1, get something to insert into the film chamber to stop the rewind shaft from turning. i.e. big screwdriver, handle of wrench. Then proceed to steps 2 and 3.

You're lucky if only the knob is bent. If the shaft is bent, more work is needed, and might have to remove the top cover.

It's the film REWIND knob not the film ADVANCE.

and I did manage to get it off the same way as the description directly above
