Well - I may just be lucky in regards to US Customs agents, but I have never been slapped with added fees/duties/taxes on any product that I have had shipped to the US from other countries. That being said, I have never had any item shipped that had a declared value over $1000.

I don't think there is any tariff on the RD1. From what I can determine from the US Customs web site, the RD1 falls under the heading of "Digital still image video cameras" or it is under the heading of "Television cameras, digital cameras and video camera recorders, NESOI".

If it falls under the former, there is no tariff coming from a nation that the USA has most favored trade relations with. However, it the RD1 comes under the second discription then there is a tariff rate of 2.1%.
