Handles nicely the ECR/EC!

I'm keen to recover my EC but need to remove the on/off lever on the front.
Does this unscrew clockwise? I assume the two indentations on the edge of the 'lock' plate are there to enable some grip on that plate.

Any help, please.

Interesting review of camera working by Bill Mattocks.
I've followed up on his references but I still have my question.

How do I remove the 'lock' lever?

The reason I asked is that the self-timing lever is fixed to the 35RC using a left handed thread screw. This doesn't look too different a fixing which made me wonder.

Answer is as you suspected, Pitzu, it is threaded normally!
Hope this might help someone else.

Jesse, the self timer (I know, not the same) buttons on the RC and RD are left-handed threads (open by turning *clockwise*).

There's a chance that yours also like that. Try it gently either way. Rubber is good as Pitxu suggested. I used a small but sturdy twizzer (the key here is be gentle).

Are you still using the ECR.

I'm making progress with my EC.
It looks to me as if the top body seals are 1mm thick.
Am I correct?
Has anyone any info on this?
I can't see why there are more seals on the EC than the ECR.
I've dropped Jon Goodman a line and hope he can help but ....

Jesse - any luck so far. I can check my ECR if you need any dimensions. The camera is surprisngly solid and compact - it feels better than my RC.

zuikologist - no luck with the EC seals as yet, thanks for asking.

No reply from Jon Goodman so far.
The ECR and EC seals seem to be very different for some unexplained reason. However I can't believe a manufacturer would put in seals if they weren't needed.

I've put the camera on one side at present and have a Canon Sureshot in bits on the desktop except for one piece that seems to have wandered! When I have sorted out the difficulty I have made through my own ignorance and carelessness I will go back to having another think and examination of the EC.
I might get a reply form Jon or someone in the meantime!

Zuikologist is right. The ECR is a better looking camera and seems in general a better camera than the RC. Only the lack of manual control could be painful and maybe the rare batteries.
For me it is the most elegant camera I own I don't know why but this is my impression. The pictures are also very good of the ECR but to tell you the truth I have an Oly xa 2 to carry everywhere, so the ECR is only my second pocket camera recently. I like to use my ECR in coffe shops and places where I'm not in a hurry.

I have both ECR and EC and to be honest, I prefer the viewfinder of the EC to the ECR. It has zone-focus (using those icons of a face, mountain, etc) and it works pretty well. It is also a tad smaller (thinner) that the ECR. But if you need the coupled rangefinder, then yes, the ECR is quite nice. There was also an ECR2 and I believe an EC2. I might have them, I don't know.

Please could you look at the body seals on your EC and tell me something about their thickness. Its the top one I am interested in. Is it 1mm thick and different in thickness to the one at the bottom?

I will examine what I have when I get back. However - I live in a rented room in a flophouse in Detroit now. Far from my family, home, and cameras. If I have my EC with me, I will examine it for you. I may not have it with me. I will let you know.

Bad news, buddy. I apparently brought my ECR with me. I can take any measurements you like with it, but I do not have my EC with me. It is either in storage a few miles from here or at home 800 miles away. Apologies.

Hope you are warm in your 'pad' - well fed too!
Always a pain being away from base because whatever you want you never seem to have with you. What is even more annoying is that you know just where it is and could your hand on it straight away if you were home.

Thanks, Jesse! I actually tend to take more photographs than ever. Since I cannot be home with my wife on weekends, and I cannot perform chores around the house, I have very little to occupy my time when I am not working or drinking. Thus, many photographs, and I scour the newspapers for local events worth a visit.
