Hey, where is a good place for used Leica's, specifically for the mp, online places, stores etc? I live in new york, so the store would have to be here. Is it possible to get a mp for about 2500?

If you live in New York, go to Rich Pinto's store - www.photovillage.com

1133 Broadway, Ste 824, at 26th St, NYC 10010

I just bought an M8 from Rich. He is fantastic.

Tell him I referred you.

KEH is good. Their rating is conservative so when you order an item in EX+ condition you'll have a hard time finding the little tiny scratch that prevented them from rating it like new!

Of course if you are patient the RFF classifieds are the best. Lots of terrific sellers here. There was a chrome MP not so long ago, prisitine, for $2400. Things come and go by batch here it seems. Right now we have several M3's but for instance it's been weeks without a single 50 summicron, while some time ago there were four listed at the same time. Where are the 'crons? Just when I wanted to buy one :) Anyways...

I heard PopFlash (RFF sponsor) is also very good. At least I know that Tony Rose is fantastic to deal with and always ready to help.

I've bought lenses from Tony at PopFlash and have been very satisfied. But I've been looking for an MP for a while, and there was one that sold on the bay for about $2,200 or $2,300 last week. It had some brassing on it, but not very much. I lost the bid on that one, but was also keeping an eye on a brand new one with full US warranty on the bay that was starting at $2,495. I won it today, and was the only bidder! :D I was surpized that I was the only bidder. So, I guess you could say that it's possible, but it's the first new one I've seen go for less than $2,700, as most places are selling them for $3,000 to $3,500.

Sounds like you have a lot of good advice here. I've bought from popflash (I live in Canada) and they give exceptional service.

Congratulations on being able to afford such and exceptional camera. I imagine that New York will afford many wonderful photo topics too. I hope you have enough for a good lens too ;-) With a 35 or 50 summilux you won't find a better combination---I think.

I wish I could browse all these stores. They must have a wonderful selection.

I've had only good experiences with Tony at PopFlash; about 50% messed up orders with KEH.com, and great satisaction with my purchases on the Classifieds here on RFF.

You may want to look at Bergen County Camera in Westwood, NJ as well. They tend to get some nice gear in there.....
