Dear All

Could someone please post a black and white 120 scan made from this scanner [preferably of a 400 speed film]?. I have a Rolleicord Vb that I want to use more. I can do the B+W processing myself. I know the scan will only be a JPEG, but I'd hope to be able to gauge the sort of results I'd be likely to get. If it looks good, I'll take the plunge. I have a Coolscan V for 35mm so the 35mm capability of the Epson is not an issue.

Thanks

Paul

I've got some 6x4.5 Tri-X scans done at 4800dpi on my V700. I'll post some samples later this evening (UK time) - whole frame, plus full-size detail portion.

Krosya - thanks - lovely shots
Alan - thanks
Kully - I have read the review, and lots of forum views, bellyaching at how flimsy/useless it is compared to a drum scanner. Fact is, I probably won't use it every week, and I don't sell my work. If I can get results from it similar to the ones Krosya has posted, it'll be fine.

Here's a shot, taken using a Bronica ETRSi 6x4.5, with Zenzanon-MC 150/3.5, Tri-X at ISO400 developed in HC-110 dil H. Scanned with a V700 at 4800dpi, 16-bit grayscale. The second picture is a full-sized sample.

Ah, sorry - I didn't mean to sound curt. I have the V700 and it probably isn't anywhere near as good as a drum scanner, but then I saw the price per scan of those and it almost made me do a wet fart.

I've used it for 6x6, 6x7 and 6x9 and it's been fine for me (same situation as you). I don't have anything on this computer but I'll dig up a scan of some test negs/positives from a test of a variety of scanners we had here last year (or more?).

The holders are flimsy for medium format but you have the option of the 'betterscanning.com' versions. I've had good results putting them straight on the scanner glass with another piece of glass on top and the film area guide. But this is time consuming and certainly not for every scan.
